Ben Browder is an American actor, writer and director who had a a successful college football career with the Furman University Paladins as a Championship-winning Linebacker while starring in theatrical productions which included Dustin Hoffman’s London West End production of Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice”.
He is known for his role of John Crichton in the science fiction TV series, Farscape (1999) which was filmed in Australia by a collaboration of The Jim Henson Company, Channel 9, Hallmark Company and The Sci-fi Channel.. During his time as lead actor on Farscape, Ben wrote two scripts for the show: Season 3’s “Green-Eyed Monster” and Season 4’s “John Quixote.”
Ben also starred as Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell in the 9th and 10th seasons of Sci-fi Channel’s, “Stargate SG-1. During his time as lead actor on the show, Ben was given credit for developing the story for Season 10’s “Bad Guys.” He also played Sheriff Isaac on the seventh season episode of Doctor Who called, “A Town Called Mercy.”
He is currently appearing in Walker as Nate Smith.

Stargate is a science fiction franchise based on the film directed by Roland Emmerich, which he co-wrote with producer Dean Devlin. It is based around the idea of an alien Einstein–Rosen bridge device (the Stargate) that enables nearly instantaneous travel across the stars. Beginning with the film Stargate, released on October 28, 1994. It was followed in 1997, Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner who created a television series called Stargate SG-1 as a sequel to the film which ran for 10 series. This was joined by Stargate Atlantis in 2004, Stargate Universe in 2009, and a prequel web series, Stargate Origins, in 2018. There are also two direct-to-DVD movies Stargate: Children of the Gods, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, and Stargate: Continuum.
