Rainbow Sun Francks

Born in Toronto, Rainbow Sun Francks has many talents: being songwriters and producers for the hip-hop group “The Oddities”, a star VJ of the Canadian channel “MuchMusic” as well as an actor who received a nomination for a Gemini.

He is the son of musician, artist, activist and actor Don Francks (best known as Walter in the series “The Nikita Woman”) and dancer Lili Francks as well as the brother of actress and musician Cree Summer.

He played the role of Frank Johnson in two television western movies, “The Price of Peace” and “Good Men and Bad”. He co-starred in the 1997 CBC TV movie “The Planet of Junior Brown,” an adaptation of a famous novel, and was nominated for a Gemini Award, Canada’s equivalent of the Emmys, for the 1999 TV movie “One Heart Broken Into Song,” a drama about Nova Scotia’s Black community in the 30s. He also starred in “Love Come Down” and “Love Song”.

Since the end of the Stargate Atlantis series, in which he played the role of Lieutenant Aiden Ford for 23 episodes, he has participated in several television series including “Lost Girl”, “The Murdoch Investigations” or “Defiance”. But he especially distinguished himself in the Canadian television series “The Listener” where he played the role of Dev Clark from seasons 2 to 5.

On the film side, he made an appearance in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem released in 2007. He plays the role of young Earl in a gun shop.

In 2019 he had a recurring role in The Umbrella Academy as Detective Chuck Beaman

More recently, he was seen in 2020 in the series High Fidelity on Disney+ alongside Zoë Kravitz and in Brilliant Minds in 2024
